Stacked Potatoes

Stacked potatoes are an excellent garnish to accompany any dish. Whether we eat meat or fish, even a salad, this type of dish is excellent.

Its name is given due to the way in which the potatoes are arranged, one on top of the other.

Without a doubt, knowing how to prepare different recipes with potatoes is essential, since this tuber is almost always present in most of our dishes.

Its nutritional value is what makes it so essential. They are rich in carbohydrates which gives us the necessary energy to be able to face each day.

Although we may think that stacked potatoes can be something complicated to make, the truth is that it is a very simple dish that will not take us long to prepare.

Option 1: Stacked potatoes

Ingredients

  • 4 medium potatoes.
  • 1/3 cup of oil.
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder.
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder.
  • 1 teaspoon of parsley.
  • Salt.
  • Pepper.
  • Sweet paprika.
  • Fresh thyme

Process

  • Peel the potatoes, clean them and cut them into very thin slices.
  • In a small bowl, mix all the spices (garlic, onion, parsley, salt, pepper, and paprika) well.
  • Coat the potato slices in the spice mixture and impregnate them with the oil (if it is olive oil, better).
  • In a muffin tin, put the potatoes (a lot of 5 or 6 in each hole) and sprinkle with thyme on top.
  • Bake the potatoes for 35 minutes until golden brown and well done.

Once we have completed these steps, we can accompany our dishes with our stacked potatoes. Also, in the event that we want to have a light dinner, we can make this dish unique.

Option 2: Stacked potatoes

Ingredients

  • 3 medium thin-skinned potatoes.
  • Olive oil.
  • Salt.
  • Black pepper.
  • Thyme.
  • Garlic powder.

Process

  • Wash the potatoes well and without peeling them, cut them into very thin slices.
  • Grease a source with butter and preheat the oven to 180ºC.
  • Brush each potato with olive oil and lightly season it.
  • Stack the potatoes (one tower per potato) and towards the middle of the tower, add the garlic.
  • Once the last layer is on, sprinkle with the thyme.
  • Bake 35-40 minutes or until edges are golden brown and center is tender.
  • They can be served with sour cream and fresh dill.

This second of the stacked potato recipes is delicious, especially because the cream and dill give it a very special touch. It is a different way of making them and we encourage you to try it too.

We will always recommend using olive oil, since it is the healthiest and the one that will give you the flavor we are looking for with stacked potatoes. However, if there is another that you like (coconut oil, sunflower oil …) you can also try it. The result will not be the same, but the important thing is that they are to your liking.

Option 3: Stacked potatoes

  • 4 or 5 potatoes.
  • Salt.
  • Pepper.
  • Olive oil.
  • Thyme (or oregano).

Process

  • Peel the potatoes and cut them into very thin slices.
  • Paint the potatoes with oil and place them one on top of the other on a baking tray, seasoning every 3 slices.
  • On the last layer, add a little thyme or oregano.
  • Bake at 180ºC for half an hour until done.

As you have seen, this last recipe is much simpler and faster. It will not take you long to complete, so it is ideal if you have little time or do not want to spend too many minutes dedicating them to cooking.
